Ruby's Concert

Wow, Ruby has been everywhere this week!  She's been looking Boho and Chic and she's been out and around at the park, boardwalk and now a concert!  Have I mentioned this week, Ruby has something for everyone?  She is just so lovely and Ruby Frou Frou is no exception!

I have teamed this Copic colored beauty with papers, a frame, and musical ephemera from the Feel the Music Work & Play 8.  I added a little ink, a gem, gold splatter on the background and a musical paperclip from my stash!

Ruby is off to the following challenges...before the concert:

Bugs or Critters!

The new theme over at
Cut It Up for this challenge is Bugs or Critters!

I started with this delightful Candy Box Flat End from My Scrap Chic.  This is a very fun and easy put-together and can be enlarged very easily in Design Space!  The space in my box ended up measuring 2.75 inches by about 4.75 inches; overall height ended up about 7.75 inches.  This made a great size for a bottle of hand cream for Mother's Day!  This box would be great for socks, candy, scarf,,,, lots of fun things!

The tags and bird are from Bird Takes Flight Card also available at My Scrap Chic!  I simply enlarged the tags and bird to fit the project!  I think they are wonderful together for a country themed project with a critter!

Papers, ribbon, and twine were all from my stash.

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.

This sweet critter is flying off to the following challenges:
Crafter's Castle:  AG with option of Dimensional
Tic Tac Toe:  Dimension, Ink, Patterned Paper
Moving Along with the Times:  Springtime

Thanks for stopping by!  Make yourself at home and feel free to peruse other posts/pages, leave a comment, and/or check out my Pinterest and YouTube Channel.

Summer Beauty

Time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the twist for our anything goes challenge is Handmade Flowers.

This lovely image is Summer Beauty from Dragon's Lair!  I fell in love with this image the moment I saw it!  If you are enjoying the wonderful images this month, I invite you to also visit Dragon's Lair on FaceBook to request the image of the month and play along there!

My page is all about a little health dilemma I am facing currently.  Hopefully, by the time this posts, I will have some long awaited answers.  It has been a long journey, and I must say art journaling has been great "therapy" along the way!  There are so many reasons we all craft, and I'm so happy I have this outlet.

The page is part of my Wildwood Book from CTMH (retired) so I didn't have to do much to get that wonderful textured look!  I added some stamping and the title die from CAS-ual Fridays.  I also have some stamping from retired stamps in my stash.

I added some papers from stash, Storybook Swirl Flourish heat embossed with some white powder and re-inked, Art Philosophy Flower die cuts with added beads and Liquid Glass, lace, ribbons, and a gesso'd clock button.

Be sure to visit
The Outlawz Twisted Thursday for all the details about the challenge and to check out all beautiful inspiration from the DT and participants!

My Journal page is off to:

Crafter's Castle:  AG with option of dimension
Ellibelle's Creative Moments:  Say it with Flowers

Words to Craft By:  Promise of April

Ruby Dog Days meets Mission Inspiration!

I have really been enjoying art journaling and have recently discovered Mission Inspiration.  When I saw the colors and theme for this month's page, I turned directly to the new Ruby Dog Days image from Polkadoodles!

I have combined her with a blush plaid paper, tree die, and butterfly dies from Winnie Special Moments and flowers from Horace and Boo Flower Foliage.

I started by coloring Ruby with Copics, placing in some eyelets to the bags along with twine for the handles and adhering a gem to her bag.

I washed over the blush plaid with a pistachio colored gesso and my texture comes from Glass Glitter Beads through an arrow stencil.  I added my paper cuts and focal images and added marks with a sponge to the tree.  My border is simple using yellow around the edges.

This quote just seemed perfect as I was seeing Ruby walking home through a park from her busy day of errands and includes the "nature" word from the prompt.  I finished with Spun Sugar Splats that are a little difficult to see, but they are there!  ; )

Ruby is off to the following challenges:
Tuesday Throwdown:  Glimmer and Shine
Try It on Tuesday:  Nature's Beauty
Classic DT:  AG
Crafter's Cafe:  World Art Day

Create and Inspire:  Use dies/stencils

Masculine Cards...

It's a new challenge over at Digi Choosday and we are sharing some masculine projects this week.  Our Challenges are always Anything Goes for all of your wonderful entries!

This card highlights the masculine papers, sentiments, and embellishments in the Belle Papillon Collection!  There are some wonderful papers with maps, documents, scripts, very subtle stripes, etc perfect for masculine projects.  Of course, there are also some beautiful florals....

The black and gold strap was cut using an enlarged ticket from the Work and Play 9 Love & Kisses Sentiment Tags.  I cut it from black cardstock and sprayed it with glycerin and water.  I then crumpled it and let it dry.  I un-crumpled and smoothed it out and added some gold ink.

Hey, have you ever wanted Guest Design with us over at Polkadoodles?  Check out the Digi Choosday page for the details!

Ruby!

I am soooo excited to introduce you to Ruby!  She is the newest lovely in the Polkadoodles family!  I have chosen Ruby Boho Chic for a page in my art/junk journal.  I think you will find Ruby has many facets to her personality perfect for art journaling, cards, scrapbook pages, home decor, etc.

Ruby is sporting her Boho Chic Style colored with Copics on a piece of lovely paper from L'il Miss Sugarpops and the Flower Tag is from Winston.  My sentiment is is from
You're so ~ Winnie Starfish Sandcastles; Beautiful ~
L'il Miss Sugarpops.

The tag is removable to write a note or add a picture.

The button is adhered with a brad and swivels to let the front open and close.  I placed a gold flower over the brad and remaining hole in the button.

Inside there is a stitched in paper pocket (from Winnie Special Moments) ready to add mementos, quotes, photos and a book page for more pictures.  I added some lace and a frame cut from Winston paper.

Spring Blog Hop!

My card is made from the beautiful Simply Spring Mini Kit from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  I added a Van Gogh quote in a fun font designed by Lisa Decosse (available free, as well as MANY others, at Path of Positivity!) and a fun notebook floral called Flowerdoodle from Scribbles Designs!

Springtime in the classroom....Ah, is there any bigger nightmare for teachers?  So hard to focus on the tasks at hand for all those students whether they be pre-schoolers or grad students!  All we want to do is be outside enjoying the beautiful sunshine, sounds, and color!

These lovely greens, peaches, and yellows from the Simply Spring Mini Kit are so perfect for this!

This design was so fun since I was envisioning "days of old"  sitting in history class doodling and remembering very sketchy coloring without much thought, care, or direction ~~ Not that I ever did anything like that in real life!  ; )

Going along with the school theme directed my cuts to the the notebook cover (Artiste) and floral clip (Art Philosophy).  Both of these cuts are from CTMH cartridges cut on Cricut.

So, here's the Springtime Lineup!  I'm sure you will enjoy each and every inspirational project!  Be sure to visit the Cut It Up Challenge Blog for all the details on prizes, sponsors, rules.

Watercolor Dragons!

Time for a new challenge over at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and the twist for our anything goes challenge is Watercolor.

Ok, heads up...I do NOT watercolor!  It's not that I don't find it fun, but it's just not one of my "fortes"!  I made a couple of struggling attempts and decided just to hang with it on the 3rd go and experiment with a Watercolored pencil piece.  Hey, that is what challenges are about, right?  They push us out of our comfort zone and inspire us to try something different!

Now, I could have watercolored a background and pulled Copics for the main image....but I went all out and pushed beyond the discomfort and desire to do that!

This wonderful magical image is from Dragon's Lair!  He is so adorable sitting there with his butterfly friends!  If you are in love with this fellow, I invite you to also visit Dragon's Lair on FaceBook to request the image of the month and play along there!

I'll see you next week, where believe it or not, I will watercolor AGAIN...
but a bit more in my zone!  hee hee  ; )

Be sure to visit
The Outlawz Twisted Thursday for all the details about the challenge and to check out all beautiful inspiration from the DT and participants!

You Are My Sunshine

You are my sunshine!  That's the theme over at
Cut It Up for this challenge! So, how do you interpret this?  Is it about sunshine, flowers, spring or maybe you are thinking about the song!  Possibly you are of the generation who watched "Taxi" and you are remembering the episode of Jim Ignatowsky and his father.  Well, share with us a project representing "You are my sunshine" and remember the die cut for a chance to win a prize to the Dreaming Tree!

I'm thinking about my son who just officially passed his firefighter I and II tests!  When I found this wonderful Fireman Flip Card pattern over at the Dreaming Tree, I had to jump on it!

The inside sentiment is a retired stamp from CTMH.

When you visit the Cut It Up blog, have fun viewing the DT projects and check out the rules and prize info.  Then be sure to share your project with us ~ don't forget the die cut to have a chance to win a prize from our amazing sponsors.
